OPN Pinot Noir
Elk Cove Pinot Blanc 2009
Red Selection - OPN Pinot Noir
This non-vintage wine is dominated by dark fruits, black cherry, plum, wild strawberry and baking spices on nose. Palate follows nose with flavors of black cherry, plum, wild strawberry and hints of pie cherry, finishing with toasted baking spices of clove, cinnamon, anise and white pepper. This wine is very complex and concentrated, pulling together the high acidity of 2007 with the structure of 2008 and balanced with the fruit forward character of 2009. This wine is brilliant with or without food.
White Selection - Elk Cove Pinot Blanc 2009
This Pinot Blanc is clean, crisp and focused on the fruit. While great ripeness is apparent in this wine, lean and racy also describes the 2009 Pinot Blanc. This fruit comes from Elk Cove Vineyards’ Estate and Mount Richmond vineyards, along with fruit from one other select site in the Willamette Valley, Tukwilla near Dundee.
Other Red - Artisanal Gamay Noir 2009
The fruit for this 2008 Gamay Noir comes from Rebecca’s Vineyard in Yoncalla, Oregon. Fermented in a Cru style, the resulting wine is a playful, light bodied red. The nose and palate are full of bright fruit. It’s refreshing nature makes it perfect to pair with a multitude of grilled foods and sauces. A poultry pleaser that does not fight with other flavors at the table.
Other White - Ancient Cellars Gilt Pinot Gris 2008
This vintage has aromas of honey, meyer lemon, spiced tea, and mineral notes. On the palate the wine starts out soft and silky with hints of honeysuckle. This is followed by bright acidity of tangy key lime and citrus ending in a clean mineral and lemon grass finish, with hints of poach granny smith apple. Yeast selection and a cool 5 month fermentation with lees stirring in neutral oak barrels gave way to the abundant flavors, perfect balance, and crisp acidity. The citrus fruits, mineral notes, and high acid characterize this vineyard.
